As a genre, future bass has already had a midlife crisis and subsequent revival about two or three times. It’s been faced with such intense waves of saturation and creativity that it’s often hard to gauge where the genre is at any specific point in time. However, I’d wager a guess that we’re in a period of creativity again at the moment, judging by this new remix from BKAYE of “Gesture” by Vérité.
Powerful vocals, recognizable future bass drums (you know the ones), and sweeping synths all scream out, “Look at me! I’m future bass!” And yet, the track is still beautiful in its own right, despite its lack of subtlety. BKAYE’s production, at the very least, is undeniably on point.
