So remember back in March when the internet went absolutely bonkers over the marble music contraption? (See here to jog your memory.) The device used marbles in precise and strategic ways to create sound.
Now, Kurt Hugo Schneider has followed that same methodology to recreate Zedd & Aloe Blacc’s “Candyman” with 50,000 M&Ms! Vocals were done by Citizen Shade, while drums, synths, and melody were all created with M&Ms; the bassline was created with the online remix app for the single.
The entire process to make the machine took over 400 hours – it has 30 tracks and plays two dozen instruments.
