ZHU Drops “Generationwhy” And Confirms An Album This Summer

The last time we spoke about Zhu, right after his debut headlining performance in the Sahara tent at Coachella in April, we were concerned with the set of numbers that appeared on screen: 7.29.16. Obviously a date, we were basically left to wonder the significance of them … until today.

Zhu has announced his debut album will be out a little over a month from now, and has also dropped a new single to commemorate the announcement. Titled “Generationwhy,” the song exudes that cool funk that we know Zhu so well for. The lyrics are equally cool and collected, often calling back anthemic songs of the ’90s with lines like “we are the people of this generation.” (“Kids In America,” anyone?)

Zhu’s debut album is out July 29.
