New Zealand native POLO has just uploaded his latest original work, this time in the form of an abstract and emotional single, “Imp.” Featuring a pantheon of unique vocal chops and expertly selected percussion choices, the atmosphere created within the song is unlike anything we’ve heard from him prior. The track begins with tempered bass pulses and echoing, distant vocal phrases that rest beneath grainy stings of atmospheric noise. Light percussion strikes soon enter the space alongside high-pitched vocal cuts and plucked arpeggios. The vocals swirl and flow around the mix before a more upbeat and consistent rhythm takes hold. The song suddenly becomes an anthemic and ethereal dance track, and slowly loses its elements until we end where we started.
