The First Phone Without A Headphone Jack Is Here…And It’s Not The iPhone

Motorola just rolled out their newest phone, and one feature has potential buyers up in arms. Following in the footsteps of Apple, the new Moto Z has done away with the traditional analog headphone jack in favor of the newer digital USB-C option. While the phone includes a 3.5mm-to-USB-C adapter, the phone hopes to push technology forward, towards the better audio quality of the USB-C port.

Many have expressed their concern over the removal of the headphone port. Most notably, many are unhappy with the idea of having to carry around an adapter just to listen to music or use wired, hands-free headsets. The adapter opens up a whole new world of problems, including replacements if it gets lost, breaks, doesn’t fit a certain style of headphone, etc. And with a number of major headphone brands still rocking the analog jacks on the market as of now, the future of the Moto Z seems unclear. It seems Motorola may have jumped the gun with this one…
