The Interns’ Splash House Playlist For June

Splash House, the daytime pool party that has in recent years become one of the most anticipated events of the summer, is finally here! This Saturday, music lovers from all around will flock to Palm Springs to enjoy a raucous, wet, and vibey outdoor mini-festival that, in comparison, leaves all other pool parties in the dust.

This year, local up and comers The Interns will be taking to the Bixel Boys Stage – another of our favorite hometown duos –  to pump out some serious jams! We asked each of the Interns, Colby J and Tōks, to get us ready for their set with a little preview playlist. So here are the 10 ten tracks they want everyone to dive into to get in the mood!

COLBY J DAYTIME DISCO SELECTS:

1. Junktion – Fling Cleaning

Razor-N-Tape is cranking out some of the freshest disco around these days, the latest digital release is a 4 track monster from Junktion. “Fling Cleaning” brings the funk, extra spicy with a side of ranch.

2. The Revenge – Do The Right Thing

“Do The Right Thing” really creeps up on you, one second you’re enjoying some mellow disco and next thing you know you’re boiling over in good vibes. I like my disco with a little bit of an acid flair to it and this tune from The Revenge really gets the job done.

3. Leon Vynehall – Kiburu’s

Leon Vynehall put out a fantastic house LP earlier this year and “Kiburu’s” always stood out to me as one of the strongest off the release. It’s got a good spine to it via percussion and is dripping in tropical jungle vibes, perfect for the Splash House daytime.

4. Pontchartrain – What You Doin’ To Me

I expect the dance floor to break out into The Hustle when this track plays – oozing with late 60’s/ early 70’s funk, it’s sure to leave you feeling inspired. Whiskey Disco is known for their disco heaters and this release really hammers that point home.

5. Kon – The Greatest Of All Time (Ali Tribute Re-Edit)

The world truly lost the greatest of all time when Muhammed Ali passed away. It’s amazing to see the extent of his influence inside and outside the ring and it would be an honor to honor the legend with a quick rinse of this tribute from Kon.

TōKS NIGHT-TIME SELECTS

1. Jesse Perez – What You Say About My Momma

Been having too much fun dropping this one in recent sets. Jesse Perez absolutely nailed it.

2. Maceo Plex- Can’t Leave You

Maceo Plex is a big musical inspiration of mine, and his tracks always do the trick. I had to put “Can’t Leave You” back in rotation, even after 4 years since its release on Crosstown Rebels.

3. Justin Jay & Friends – Indecision Ft. Josh Taylor (Dub Mix)

Justin Jay has been churning out jam after jam for his debut album, Fantastic Voyage (The Album!). His dub mix of “Indecision” is one of them, and its classic deep house vibe brings warmth and plenty of low-end impact to the dance floor.

4. John Tejada – Integrator

LA’s local legend, John Tejada, has become a favorite over the past few years, and this latest release of his on Kompakt is spacey, melodic minimalism at its finest.

5. DJ Metatron – 2 The Sky (Metatron’s What If Madness Is Our Only Relief Mix)

Melancholia + euphoria at the same time – an introspective masterpiece from the elusive DJ Metatron (aka Traumprinz and Prince of Denmark).

Hope you enjoy – and see you Poolside!!
