Day three of New York’s Governors Ball has officially been cancelled due to the threat of severe weather and lightning. Kanye West, CHVRCHES, Galantis, Thomas Jack, and more were scheduled to perform today, and though everyone is disappointed, we’re glad the festival isn’t risking the safety of its patrons, staff, or artists.
However, this was to be Kanye’s first U.S. performance since the release of The Life Of Pablo and many were expecting it to be the first look at a new show for the album. This is no doubt a huge disappointment for Yeezy fans, as Kanye West was probably a huge draw for many to buy tickets to the event.
Additionally, the tragic lightning strike at Germany’s Rock am Ring festival is still fresh in everyone’s minds, which is certain to have had a role in swaying Governors Ball’s decision to cancel today’s festivities. Below is their official statement.
