I’m not sure if I’ll ever get used to this new side of Afrojack, but I’m loving it so far.
After spending a couple years on the mainstage with ostensibly safe music, Afrojack is mixing things up lately, experimenting with new styles (relative to himself) and often coming out ahead. His latest venture is remixing the extremely divisive “Panda” by Desiigner, putting a unique bass/trap hybrid spin on it.
The track goes hard enough that you can feel the bass in your bones, and yet it almost has this calming feel to it… at least until you get to the second drop. Some vocal chops (resembling some Lookas tracks) lead into a heavy, trapped out section that just begs you to throw your trap arms up.
This new side of Afrojack might take a while to get used to, but if he keeps going in this direction, I’m definitely willing to stay along for the ride.
