Services like Shazam have proven to extract some powerful data about what’s popular. The music discovery application can give real-time analytics on who is listening to what, and instead of basing projections on opinions or other subjective points, the service uses hard data to map out the next big track.
Shazam has done just that for summer 2016, and using their global community of listeners and ever-expanding database, these predictions are looking pretty solid.
While there are electronic production elements in nearly all the top 12 contenders, Calvin Harris & Rihanna’s “This Is What You Came For” weighs in at number 3, and The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down” stacks up to the number 11 spot, although we think it deserved higher.
