Conro – The Saint [Monstercat]

There are only a few days left before Monstercat 027 releases, and Conro is sliding in just in time with a goodie. “The Saint” is both Conro’s second release for 027 and his third release on Monstercat following his departure from Dyro‘s WOLV. While his last Monstercat release – “City Lights” – was dark and vocal-centric, Conro’s newest single goes back to the bright, melodic sounds of “On My Way Up.”

Musically, the track is very similar to “On My Way Up,” with its high-pitched vocal chops and long instrumental breaks. However, that doesn’t leave “The Saint” with absolutely no uniqueness. In fact, it sounds a lot more like a glitch hop/future bass hybrid than “On My Way Up” did, using rhythmic patterns that are a bit more playful and energetic than the previous.

One of my favorite things about this track is its artwork, which takes the song’s title literally and portrays Conro as a saint, in classical art form. The producer is pictured with a glass of wine and a chicken, with his head surrounded by a circle of light, which perfectly matches the bright and silly style that “The Saint” brings.
