Today at a White House welcoming ceremony for the leaders of Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland, President Obama just couldn’t help but express our national admiration for all things Scandinavian.
Obama pointed out our love for Nordic design, a clear nod to IKEA’s steadfast grip, and the fact that LEGOs have long since been an outlet for our children’s imaginations. And while mentioning Avicii in the same sentence as ABBA is a statement in and of itself, that Obama even made note of the EDM superstar is a pretty rad occasion. He even called out Spotify for shaping the future of music in his speech.
The Obama stamp of approval isn’t going to change anything, but it certainly is a testament to the proliferation of dance music.
