Sooo….we’re going to veer out of my usual comfort zone with a new single by 17 (!!!!) year old vocalist Johnny Gr4ves and veteran hip-hop producer Konrad OldMoney. I already know what you’re thinking at this point – “hip-hop? Really Jeff?” but just stay with me I implore and check out just how versatile Konrad OldMoney gets with his production.
“Say Yes” is a dance-hall/reggae inspired tune with elements of modern dance by way of some cool tropical house elements (naturally). Johnny’s soothing vocals work well atop a lush bed of a vibrant bass line and some great use of horns for that smooth Caribbean dance-hall/tropical crossover.
“Say Yes” is not only the lead single from Johnny’s forthcoming EP, but also launched as part of a remix competition between Vintage Currency Music and SKIO so producers – if you like what you hear and think you’ve got a clever take on the track, head on over here to try and win the remix competition and score yourself some goodies if you place in the Top 2!
