If I had to pick one future bass act to watch for the best of 2016, there’s probably about a 90% chance I’m backing TastyTreat. Their latest single “Simple Things” is a perfect demonstration of how the duo have managed to elevate themselves to another level with consistently quality bass music drawing from hip-hop/R&B influences.
With “Simple Things” the piano introduction and outro conjure up shades of jazz while the overall atmosphere of the song is about as groovy as you can get. Choice’s vocals are also a huge plus for me in the track, in my eyes (or ears) they’re about as close to Get Lifted era John Legend as you can get when he chimes in on the hook.
