The unfortunate and surprising death of music legend Prince has rung in many questions about the mysterious circumstances surrounding it. However, a recent report from TMZ claims that Prince might have been treated for a drug overdose a few days leading up to his death.
According to the report, Prince’s private jet made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois, for what the superstar’s representatives said was a flu following a concert Thursday evening in Atlanta, Georgia. However, TMZ disagrees saying that the hospital gave Prince a “save shot” which is typically given to patients to combat the impact of opioids.
The same report also claims that Prince refused to follow the doctors’ orders to stay for 24 hours at the hospital. However, after the hospital could not assure a “private room”, Prince and his team left after three hours of being at the hospital where he returned to his home in Minneapolis. Authorities found Prince unresponsive in an elevator in his Paisley Park complex. A 911 call was made at 9:32 a.m., but Prince did not respond to CPR. He was pronounced dead at 10:07.
Since the time TMZ broke the news and his publicists confirmed it, an overflow of tributes and condolences have poured out from many major figures. From President Barack Obama to the entire EDM community and more from all walks of life, the entire world is grieving over the loss of one the greatest artists of recent history. From his huge discography of over 39 albums (which does not include compilation or live albums) to his over-the-top live performances, Prince left a mighty mark in the music industry that no one can match.
With an autopsy expected to take place Friday, we might not have an exact confirmation to what happened to Prince for some time.
