Spring Awakening Breaks The Silence, New Location To Be Announced

Back in February, Chicago’s most noteworthy electronic music festival Spring Awakening announced that it would not be returning to Soldier Field for this year’s installment. Instead, they said, it would be moved south to the city’s famous Jackson Park so that the Copa América could occupy the soccer stadium during the same weekend.

Despite the change of venue, fans and attendees from around the country waited eagerly for news of the upcoming festival’s line up and other details. That was, of course, until every mention of Jackson Park was quietly removed from Spring Awakening’s website earlier this week.

Since then, those of us in the know have been clamoring for some sort of explanation or, in the worst case, an announcement of the festival’s potential cancellation. Luckily for us, however, Spring Awakening finally took their Facebook page today to settle our fears.

In a brief announcement issued two hours ago, the festival revealed that yes, in fact, the event is no longer to be held at Jackson Park. “Scheduling conflicts arose with another event in the community,” the announcement said, “and both events are unable to coexist on the same weekend.” Despite the setback, however, the festival will still be taking place on June 10-12 with a brand new venue to be unveiled soon.
