After the tragic events in so many cities over the past few months, it seems that safety and peace are further away than ever before. In darkness, though, the light shines brightest. At least, I believe that was the theme when Mendum and Jessica Main wrote “City Of Light.”
Though the track has a distinct dark tone, its uplifting melodic phrases and hopeful and real lyrics instill confidence that things will get better. The first drop reflects the broken nature of today’s society, and I think the second, a more wildly melodic section, is the direct juxtaposition to that very thought.
