UPDATE: The Sun erroneously attributed Ellie Goulding’s statements to mean that she was quitting music. Goulding has shared on Twitter that after seven years of constant touring, she is taking an indefinite break. We regret the error.

Ellie Goulding made a stunning announcement exclusively to The Sun that she will be quitting music next year to mend a broken heart.
After a two year relationship, Goulding and McFly bassist Dougie Poynter have split up and Goulding is taking it pretty hard. “People think I’m invincible but these past few weeks have been tough,” she told The Sun.
She continued, “When you’re in the public eye, it seems like you’re able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true. I’m not in a relationship any more and that’s been hard. Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head.”
Thankfully, Goulding has her Delirium tour to help keep her mind off of things. The tour began in Hamburg, Germany, two months ago and culminates in Perth, Australia, in seven months. After that, who knows.
“I’m not writing new stuff. I’m not sure when I’ll release a new album. It might not even be next year. I need time off for my own head. My plan is to have a month off in August and do more of my charity stuff and then next year I need to live a bit. Who knows? My situation has changed.”
While we are obviously sad that we won’t be getting any new Ellie Goulding music any time soon, we completely sympathize with the situation and wish her all the best. Check out one of Goulding’s earliest, and one of our favorite, tracks below:
