There’s something about a lyric video that I completely connect with – perhaps it’s the combination of reading and listening, or the variety of ways that a typographical interface can be presented; whatever it is, I dig it.
The video below from AFSHeeN, for the track “Let Me Down Slow,” uses typesetting in a pretty typical way. There’s no fancy maneuvers or contrived fade ins/outs – the text appears, the text disappears. There’s an appeal to simplicity that way, as well. The timelapse of a lake in the background meshes perfectly with laid back nature of the track. Likewise, the two people intertwined in the lake are the quintessential representation of the theme of the song.
