While countries like Sweden and the Netherlands are often considered meccas of dance music, another European country, Norway, is making a strong bid to be considered on par with these traditional powerhouses. In the last few years, some of dance music’s biggest stars have come from Norway – Kygo, Cashmere Cat, Fehrplay, and Lido, just to name a few – and it’s looking like another Norwegian, Jerry Folk is quickly making a case to be considered 2016’s breakout star. Folk has already made waves internationally with his remixes of Oh Wonder’s “Lose It” and Years & Years’ “Desire,” and now, he’s teaming up with ELOQ for a future bass thriller called “You Know.”
While “You Know” is a departure from Folk’s typical nu-disco stylings, it showcases a matured approach to his production that just takes your breath away. On “You Know,” Folk and ELOQ open up the track with soaring guitar arpeggios intertwined with a throbbing bass line and playful synth stabs, before peeling back the curtain to deliver gliding synth arrangements and a booming bass line that packs a serious punch.
