The original “Aftershock” from NGHTMRE and Boombox Cartel moves from a powerful and uplifting trap tune to a downright filthy club banger. The breadth of the original is part of what gives it charm, in that when it’s being mixed in, it’s always a surprise.
I was pretty excited when I heard that Castor Troy would be getting his hands on the tune to remix it, and it looks like that excitement was well-founded. Castor kept the tune down in the darkness for the great majority; whenever the throngs of uplifting synths began to rear their heads, Castor pushed them back down into oblivion. With sinister growls, “Aftershock” became a completely new track.
