We catch up with the skilled producer and DJ Brian Cross to hear how his musical endeavours in 2016 are panning out, and some highlights from last year.
You champion a variety of sounds on your Ultra radio show – who are you really digging right now?
Well, as a EDM lover I can’t just like one style, I like all of them and If I have to chose something more personal, Zedd’s tracks are the ones that personally motivate me the most. For me, he is the number 1 !
‘Unbreakable’ is a massive tune – tell us a little bit about the making of it.
I’m very proud of this tune. We tried to make something between pop and EDM, and here is the result. We took care of the lyrics with Angelika Vee, she knew that I was looking for a sentimental vocal with a message, and she nailed it! Musically wise, it was a hard work to implement the guitars and make an altogether strong song.
Are you feeling the Heren remix that has just dropped?
Yes I totally do! He is a very talented guy and the remix was just what I was looking for.
What are the best and worst parts about your job?
The best part is to see the smile of the people when they are dancing and having fun. The worst part is that I lose a lot of time with my family, but I work hard for their future!
Is there anyone you’re itching to work with next year?
Yes, I’m working on some big pop names, and also a collaboration with a EDM act that is motivating me a lot. Fingers crossed!
What would a typical day in the life of Brian Cross entail?
Well, it’s been hard this last year! I wake up at 7 am (not after a show) and I do management work for my career together with Ultra Music, and then studio time with my partner in crime. Then between this, I try to continue with my Krav Maga training and also some family time!
Finally, ambitions for 2016?
Keep being happy with the music, and staying healthy!
