Last week, Big Beat Records released a wonderful five-year compilation celebrating the label’s time in the dance music realm. Among the tracks included was this stunning Speaker of the House remix of the smash Galantis hit, “Runaway (U & I).”
Amidst the huge rise of tropical house over the past two years or so, we’re starting to see a slew of what I’d describe as “deep tropical house” songs. Conceptually it sounds nice, a melodically driven track that utilizes tropical house instruments and a minimalist touch, coupled with a greater emphasis on the bass line. This remix is an excellent example of how great something like that can sound when done properly. A tropical house influenced intro transitions into a melodic track with coherent deep house influences all throughout the song, making this one a more low-key sensual take on its much dance-happier predecessor.
