Once again, UK music festival Glastonbury has opened its submission box to DJs of all shapes and sizes to enter to win a spot on the main stage at this year’s installment. Similar to Insomniac’s Discovery Project, and just like in previous years, the festival has reserved several performing slots for selected up and comers, who will have to pass through several filters of judges and writers who will narrow down the applicants until only eight remain. The final eight candidates will then perform live for the panelists at Pilton Working Men’s Club in April, and a final three will be selected.
Beginning this Monday, January 18th at 9 a.m., applicants must submit one original song of any genre from their Soundcloud account to Glastonbury’s official website, in addition to a video of themselves performing live (even if it’s in a bedroom). They will have exactly one week to do so, as the contest closes at 5 p.m. on Monday, January 25th.
Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis says, “New music has always been a huge part of what we do at Glastonbury, and the Emerging Talent Competition has become an incredible way for us to discover – and help draw attention to – the very latest talent.”
Vanessa Reed, Executive Director of PRS for Music Foundation, adds, “This is a brilliant opportunity for up-and-coming music creators from across the UK to get vital support at an early stage in their music careers, to develop their talent and also perform at the iconic Glastonbury festival. We’re looking forward to seeing which talented new artists apply.”
