Working its way out of both Universal Sweden and disco:wax right now is “The Boy Is Mine,” a stylish and tropical-tinged cut from Danish producer and DJ Crawn. As you may guess from the title, he has combined elements of the classic Brandy and Monica track into something a bit different, and he’s done a stellar job on it.
Blending in fresh sounds like the uplifting piano chords at the start and a pulsing beat that has a real warmth to it, Crawn takes control of those super strong vocals and makes sure he puts his own stamp on them.
