Star Wars: The Force Awakens just yesterday broke the record for highest grossing movie in America of all time. Only looking at domestic numbers, Star Wars has grossed an incredible $764 million. (Adjusted for inflation, the numbers look a little different, but that’s for another time.)
In addition to domestic totals, TFA has also made $812 million overseas … including places like China.
We single out China in this case because of a video we came across. Apparently, China has their own promotional song for the movie, sung by “China’s answer to Justin Bieber,” Lu Han. China chose to do away with the iconic Star Wars theme and compose an entirely new overture to the promotional video, which turned out to be somewhat of an EDM “banger,” at least that’s what we think it was supposed to be.
The lyrics feel more like Lu Han is on a USO tour of the First Order outposts rather than anything having to do with the actual plot or history of the franchise. I’ve seen TFA a couple times, and I don’t remember any 808 synthesizers on the Starkiller Base.
