Two Door Cinema Club’s “What You Know” was an instant radio hit, featuring an upbeat tempo and tempered male vocals. It’s a predictable pop formula, but TDCC are one of the few groups that made it out of the muck to nationwide acclaim.
In order to truly make a mark on the track, something creative needed to happen. Sidewaze came up with the perfect solution, flipping the upbeat pop track on its head, slowing the tempo, and producing it in a minor key. Chase Holfelder performs similar feats on his YouTube channel, and it’s incredible the effect that it can have.
This particular remix has elements of many different genres, but defies a strict classification, bringing back memories of pop remixes from the 2006-2009 era.
