According to a large number of publications, an unknown IS threat on Goa, India has forced music festivals Sunburn and Supersonic to beef up their security.
Terrorist threats around the world have people scared, and it is having unintended consequences on music festivals and venues, and artists like Knife Party.

This newest threat comes to the Goa region in India, well known for its historical significance on the Goa trance style of music and two of the largest music festivals in the country, Sunburn and Supersonic.
Goa Tourism minister Dilip Parulekar said, “We want the best security in view of the IS threat. The single window permission committee headed by the chief secretary which grants permission for such events has decided to ask the organizers of the events to increase security. The police will be there, but the organizers will also have to increase the security in view of the threat. The permissions will be granted once they comply with these conditions.”
Goa was recently taken down from Russia’s safe travel destinations list amidst security concerns, as well. Russians, interestingly enough, comprise nearly half of the total foreign visitors to Goa. How this will impact Goa’s annual winter festivals is yet to be seen.
