One dark and stormy night in New York City, Jay Z was abducted and forced to rap with a lung-full of helium… That didn’t actually happen, but this what it would have sounded like. “New York” is the latest original from Memba, and an eclectic gem of fearsome trap and moombahton.
Taking a cue from the metalloid design of Alesia’s “Pull Up The People,” Memba has charged this track with industrial tones and voluptuous bass. Hollowed snaps and alternating moombah rhythms usher the arrangement along, and the tubular synth pops fill out the background against a rumbling low-end. We can only hope Memba stays heading in this direction for 2016, pushing today’s flavor of bass music even further from the ordinary.
