The widely acclaimed documentary, Daft Punk Unchained, premiere tonight in the US on Showtime.
Daft Punk have, for the better part of the past decade, been icons for the electronic music community. Featuring an easily recognizable brand and appearance, as well as instantly recognizable and classic music, it was easy for them to make a name for themselves in a budding industry. Their continued influence is only more characteristic of their talent, and of the public’s adoration.
However, it wasn’t until 2006 that the French duo really took their career to the next level. A year after their third album, Human After All, Daft Punk took their act to Coachella and changed electronic music forever.
“No one had seen anything like that,” music journalist Michelangelo Matos. “No one had seen that level of production. Everybody who was in the tent was texting everybody else: ‘You are missing this! This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen! You’re missing the greatest performance of all time.'”
Daft Punk Unchained premieres tonight at 9 p.m. EST/PST on Showtime, but you can watch two minutes of footage from the first appearance of the Pyramid below.
