A man died today in Adelaide, Australia at Royal Adelaide Hospital after being transported from Bonython Park where music festival Stereosonic was making its third stop.
According to an initial investigation by police, the man had consumed an illicit substance and was also in possession of several pills, including two orange pills with a dollar sign stamp on them.
At 2 p.m., before the man was taken to Royal Adelaide, police had seized 19 pills from other attendees and given charges of drug diversion to three of them.
This death came right on heels of Stereosonic’s Sydney stop last week, when 25-year-old pharmacist Sydney Choi died after reportedly drinking water with diluted ecstasy in it.
The festival’s Melbourne stop, also held on Saturday, saw 60 arrests for drug offenses by the afternoon.
Stereosonic organizers released a statement Saturday, advising attendees of their festivals to adhere to the upmost safety.
“Our First-Aid and general event staff are there to help you and not judge, if you or one of your friends are in trouble there will be no consequences for presenting to first aid. We encourage our patrons not to play Russian roulette with your lives. We have always had, and continue to have a zero tolerance policy towards drugs and if people are caught bringing them in they will be denied entry and removed from the site.”
Stereosonic will continue its tour tomorrow in Brisbane.
