Soundcloud & Spotify Make Huge Gains In The Streaming World

According to new data from App Annie, Spotify has just become the most popular streaming platform ahead of competitor Pandora. On iOS and Android, Spotify has taken the top spot from Pandora, which has reigned had the top spot on iOS as of last year. (Pandora was able to snag #2 on Android this year, ahead of TuneIn.)

It’s worth noting that Pandora is only available to users in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand; Spotify is available in 58 markets worldwide. This only proves how massive Pandora’s market share is in the U.S. that it can still remain at #2.

However, Tech Times points out that the biggest winner in this year’s list is Soundcloud. The app was nowhere to be found on the list a year ago, but catapulted into #3 on iOS and #4 on Android this year.

In spite of its myriad inconsistencies and bad publicity this year, Soundcloud still remains one of the strongest portals for bedroom producers and young, aspiring musicians to share their work.
