Comprised of brothers Max and Spencer Ernst along with Chelsea Lee, The Walking Sticks are twisting their love for 80’s dance into a renewed genre. Their latest dream pop creation, “The News,” is an effervescent combination of Lee’s sultry vocals and dynamic trip hop, making for a delectable autumn tune.
Honestly, “The News” is brilliant through and through. Most notably, the reverberating bassline cracks the track wide open, lending space for beautifully arranged percussion and synth embellishments to complete their dreamscape. And that’s exactly what this is, a dream-driven tune that captures the essence of 80’s synth pop, yet retaining its nostalgia with all the bite of modern composition.
