Imad Royal, formerly known as Royal and presently one half of SoySauce, has just a single word on his SoundCloud description – ‘minimalistic.’ This concept is wonderfully reflected in his latest single “Troubles”.
A perfect mesh of electronic and pop, Imad Royal’s shiny synths and layered drum kicks accompany his own vocals to create a short, sweet track centered on a theme we are all too familiar with. This is the first time I can recall him utilizing his own vocals on any of his projects, be it SoySauce or in his previous EP Cycles, which is quite the pleasant surprise and one that I hope won’t be a surprise any longer with appearances in his upcoming album.
