Australia’s First & Only Cruise Ship Festival Has Been Cancelled

Eight months ago, we shared news of Australia’s first-ever cruise ship festival, along the same lines as Groove Cruise, Holy Ship!, and Mad Decent Boat Party. Today, unfortunately, that dream has been cancelled.

The lineup was set to feature Australian breakouts like Alison Wonderland and Peking Duk, as well as international sensations like Cyril Hahn.

Creating a festival at sea is not the same as creating one on land, it seems, and the organizers were unable to overcome that hump. A statement on their Facebook page vaguely explains the reasoning behind the cancellation:

Australia’s first cruise ship Festival, Sea ‘N Beats, announces with regret the cancellation of their March 5-8, 2016 event.

Whilst every possibility in the hope of proceeding with Australia’s first cruise ship festival has been looked at, ultimately all parties involved concluded that conducting a music festival at sea comes with challenges that could not be overcome.

We believe that the most appropriate decision was to not continue with the event. All ticket buyers have been individually contacted via email and a full refund offered.

You can find out more information about refunds on their website.
