So, what DJ might you be arriving to the Halloween party as? With festivals already packing damn near every weekend from Memorial through Labor Day, the massive mainstage action is now ramping up around every celebratory occasion. Formerly taking over Chicago venues like the Congress (how we miss you!) and Aragon Ballroom, REACT’s Freaky Deaky has now exploded into a full-fledged three-day music festival at the outdoor (yes, in late-October) home of the Chicago Fire. While the temps are expected to stay in the mid-50s, the beats of Bassnectar, Big G, GRiZ, Mr. Carmack, Flying Lotus, and Oliver Heldens are guaranteed to keep feet shuffling and spirits high. Ahead the action, we tapped a few of the fest’s can’t miss talents to acquire about their costume selection and other fun treats.

If you were to dress up as another DJ this Halloween, who would it be and why?
I’d dress as Nervo because I think I’d look amazing in a crop top.
Most clutch green room Halloween treats?
Green M&M’s are the best.
Scariest behind-the-booth moment?
Once I forgot to bring my SD card to a festival, and I had to play from iTunes to Rekordbox.
One DJ trick every up-and-comer needs to know?
When in doubt, play Calvin Harris, it works in every situation.
If you could have one superpower to help out your DJ/production, what would it be?
It would be sick to be like a musical Xavier and just control all my equipment through brain waves and shit. I’d just write my music in bed laying down with tacos.

[Laughs] We’d totally be down to dress up as Cash Cash because we always make fun of each-other on our Untouchable Tour!
Most clutch green room Halloween treats?
Peanut M&MS and Twix Bars!!
Scariest behind-the-booth moment?
When our computer went down and the entire set stopped! Tragic — but we learned a lot that day 🙂
One DJ trick every up-and-comer needs to know?
Use your delays and reverb to sweep into the next track sometimes – it’s dope.
If you could have one superpower to help out your DJ/production, what would it be?
The ability to have a melody from your head INSTANTLY be written down! Would make writing crazy fun, wouldn’t it? 😉

If you were to dress up as another DJ this Halloween, who would it be and why?
Ankle Pants… Who else wouldn’t want to wear a mask with a robotic penis for Halloween and also plays amazing techno?
Most clutch green room Halloween treats?
Dark Chocolate… Sorry I’m not very rock n roll!
Scariest behind-the-booth moment?
Turning up to a gig and not being able to see over the dj booth… It happens often. Short man problems.
One DJ trick every up-and-comer needs to know?
Work hard, work harder and then work even harder.
If you could have one superpower to help out your DJ/production, what would it be?
Teleportation. Just imagine it. Perfection right there.

If you were to dress up as another DJ this Halloween, who would it be and why?
Flo: Tiesto cause I’ve always wanted to try and talk like him for an entire day.
Most clutch green room Halloween treats?
Tune: Kale Chips cause we are all trying to keep it healthy nowadays.
Scariest behind-the-booth moment?
Flo: Wasn’t actually playing at the moment, but seeing Tomorrowland stage minority start to catch on fire comes to mind very quickly. We had just finished and Chris Lorenzo was playing I believe.
One DJ trick every up-and-comer needs to know?
Matisse: Put your head down and make music and ease up on the networking.
If you could have one superpower to help out your DJ/production, what would it be?
Tune: That super power Skrillex has that gets his stuff so loud and clean at the same time. We’ll take that one.

If you were to dress up as another DJ this Halloween, who would it be and why?
Riff Raff would be a good one. He’s always in some wild outlandish type shit! A little bit of tweaking here and there and he’d cross over nicely into a scary horror movie type villain.
Most clutch green room Halloween treats?
Some kind of delicious red cocktail that’s dispensed from a giant set of Dracula fangs.
Scariest behind-the-booth moment?
We used to play off a battery powered DAT machine. We played our first big festival in Sydney to a few thousand people and the batteries died mid song! It was cool though cause we casually asked the crowd for some more AA’s and got showered with them onstage. We quickly loaded them up and BAM…straight back into the bangers. People actually thought we’d rehearsed it haha.
One DJ trick every up-and-comer needs to know?
DJ Q-Bert’s Falafel Humpback Camel Skratch. (Make sure you get the tongue right)
If you could have one superpower to help out your DJ/production, what would it be?
When our set is getting to its peak moment, it’d be pretty cool if us, and all the gear, could hover a few feet in the air. Maybe even fly right over the crowd while your DJ’ing. Next level crowd surfing!
Freaky Deaky kicks off tonight! Tickets are still available here!
