Greeting once more to all you magnificent bassheads of all shapes and sizes; it’s time for another marvelous episode of West Coast Wednesday! This past week has seen some positively massive releases from the west coast, so go ahead let’s dive right into all of these amazing tunes.
First up, the bay areas very own Woolymammoth & the Atlanta based ATLiens get us ready for halloween with this marvelously spooky track entitled SIGIL. Released today for free via Nest HQ with a disturbingly awesome music video, this track absolutely dripping with dark, filthy basslines that make you want to do weird things with strange people on a moonless night. Grab the tune and peep the video below!
Next up, ShadowTrix Music has yet another super heavy release on their hands with the new Selby EP. Just the most recent in the slew of incredible releases from the label, this one definitely gets a bit deeper on us. Heavy ass subs, classic UK drums, and some serious west coast synths permeate the fabric of EP. It’s something like UK Grime meets West Coast Bass, all wrapped up in a nuance that can only be Selby at his finest. Don’t sleep on this one.
Next up is one of the rowdiest tunes we’ve heard all month courtesy of the brain scrubbing supergroup known as Shades (Alix Perez x Eprom). Their newest tune, a remix of Danny Brown, released just a day ago in anticipation of their show in London, might actually kill your brain if you’re not careful. Seriously, this one almost blew the glass out of my apartment on the first playthrough. The pure, raw, grittiness of the sounds these two manage to create never ceases to amaze us. Be careful with this one.
Now it’s time for our favorite house tune of the week, and it comes in the form of a VIP from LA’s very own Goldplate and Init. Out last Thursday, this obnoxiously groovy flip of Init’s Rogue Dolphin reminds us exactly why we keep falling in love with bassline house. It’s crunchy growls, classic synths and trapstep breaks will have you going rogue in no time.
Next, Mailboux & Blvck Sheep get real amazing real quick with this delightfully filthy remix of Diplo & Troybois, Afterhours. Obviously remixing these two legends is no easy task. Yet somehow, these two pull it off in a incredibly unique way that will have you pressing play time and time again. We know we will be.
Finally, last tune comes to us from SLO’s very own magical duo Tasty Treat. This time, these two are serving up a deliciously sexual original featuring powerfully haunting vocals from Tribes. This brand new release just dropped from Skrillex’s Nest HQ, and is guaranteed to make you feel some type of way as you gaze out the window on the way to your next destination.
That’s all for now, until next weekend bassfam!!
