Happy Monday, everyone! We ask you: is there any better way to start the week than with a heavy dose of bass-fueled weirdness? Of course there isn’t! So we’re happy to bring you the latest single from West Coast masters of weird, G Jones & Bleep Bloop.
Released ahead of their first ever collaborative EP, Mind (due out November 3rd), ‘Real’ shows just how well these bass music icons’ styles can mesh together. It’s also a stellar example of how both of them simply refuse to impose limits on their creativity, as the tune is basically impossible to classify or label as one particular genre. A tribute to the days of minimal techno, classic drum machine back-beats fill the empty space between off-kilter synth rhythms and syrupy sub-bass as police sirens wail on the periphery. Imagine aliens in 80s style exercise suits doing aerobics on the Tron grid and you’ll have a pretty good idea of the vibe this sonic concoction creates. It’s really no wonder the duo teamed up with the one and only DJ Shadow for a collaborative release on his extremely forward-thinking imprint, Liquid Amber. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the Mind EP, and check out the full stream (and free download) of ‘Real’ after the jump.
