Faithless 2.0 celebrates two decades of the eponymous dance act who have thrilled audiences for years with ground-breaking trance and trip-hop. This new release, which features old classics and remixes from current big names in dance music, feels like a fitting way to draw the parties to a close as we look back over 20 years.
Fan favourites such as ‘Salva Mea’, ‘God is a DJ’, ‘We Come 1’, and ‘Insomnia’ are included on one disc. The other disc features fresh remixes from the likes of Tiësto, Axwell and Booka Shade. We already know Avicii’s ‘Insomnia’ remix is a bit naff… However, High Contrast’s remix of ‘Muhammad Ali’ and Above & Beyond’s remix of ‘Salva Mea’ do the sources sufficient justice, and could help bring the Faithless sound to a new audience in 2015.
If you’re an old fan or want to see what the fuss is about, you can now listen to Faithless 2.0 on Spotify. Avicii may have failed to adhere to the creeping majesty of ‘Insomnia’, but mostly the remixes sound quite good. In some ways however, the timeless originals will always reign supreme.
