Aside from the Skrillex collab that still hasn’t surfaced, today’s release with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is probably the biggest of Genesis Series. The American hip hop group has been around since 1993 and has had a considerable influence on the current state of hip hop, just as Zhu has considerable influence on the current trajectory of EDM. It isn’t to say that a collab between the two was “inevitable,” but it damn sure makes sense.
Zhu has a considerable talent to inject his own characteristic sound throughout all of his productions without making them sound stale and repetitive, and the vocals from Bone Thugs is some type of diabetes-inducing icing on top of an already too sweet cake. Throw in Trombone Shorty into the mix, and you’ve got a diverse, dancey, inventive, innovative tune that just screams “replay.”
