Freddy Todd — Khrysos EP (All Good Records) [Free-ish Download]

If you’re searching for a heavy dose of weird to get you through the day, then look no further; Detroit’s own Freddy Todd is here with a brand new release that will throw you down the rabbit hole without a second thought. Entitled Khrysos (meaning ‘gold’, in Greek), the EP is some of Freddy‘s most experimental and artful work yet. It’s like glitch-hop meets synth pop with a dash of psy-trance for an additional level of otherworldly weirdness. Thick, chunky synth waves crash throughout each track, accompanied by an eclectic menagerie of both synthesized and organically sampled sound effects. Lovers of that distinctly wonky bass music sound will especially appreciate the remixes at the tail end of the release. Both Bleep Bloop and Space Jesus took on the track, ‘Tanson’, and both of them absolutely crushed their re-visions, flipping the tune into two completely monstrous versions of itself.

Freddy Todd has released Khrysos via fellow Detroit bass hustler GRiZ‘s label, All Good Records; it’s available on iTunes for a small fee, as well as on Freddy‘s Bandcamp page as a name-your-price download. Check out the full stream after the jump and be sure to grab a copy of your own if you’re feelin’ the vibes!
