It’s been an amazing summer, but fall is here and it’s time to say a fond farewell to that wonderful time of year we know as festival season. Fear not though, fellow music-loving travelers! There’s one more wild party before the season truly closes: Santa Cruz Music Festival. Featuring a full takeover of the city’s iconic downtown area, a fantastic representation of local talent, and internationally renowned acts such as RJD2 and G Jones, SCMF is sure to be one for the books. And now, the organizers have pulled out all the stops to make it not one, not two, but a three day affair.
First up is a night at the Catalyst Club with one of bass music’s finest and filthiest: FIGURE. The drumstep champion is currently on tour in support of his Gravity LP, so there will definitely be plenty of new material in the mix. Following the very next day is the official pre-party for SCMF, featuring an eclectic mob of talented musicians. Canadian glitch-hop master JPOD heads things up, with Magic Bronson, a couple of the Dirty Beetles crew members, and many more on the bill as well. It’s going to be big beats all night for a very small price, so come out and get your dancing shoes ready for the main event!
