Zedd Talks Production Visuals & Rider Essentials

From what we’ve already seen of Zedd’s True Colors Tour, it looks to be one of the most visually appealing performances in terms of visuals and stage production.

Speaking to MTV ahead of last night’s massive Madison Square Garden show about what people can expect from the show, Zedd mentioned that “they can expect to be in a different world for every single song and feel like they’re in a water environment and the next song happens and suddenly you switch scenarios and you’re in a space ship.”

Production flexibility was another major thing he took into consideration as well when preparing the visuals beforehand, “When I was thinking about what production to build, I decided to do something that was as flexible as possible because I didn’t want to have that one thing that is signature, that I’m stuck with it.”

Zedd also mentioned that both he and his team had taken three years working out the creative process behind True Colors, but only six months to actually create it.

“I wanted people to have a destination to see something unique something they will never see at a festival…I want to give back to my fans and give them a night they will never forget.”

Delving into the realm of life on the road Zedd also mentioned that not only was he still working on new music and experimenting on new sounds. He’s also discovered a burning new passion for candles.

“I’m super into candles, I just got into it,” he said. “We had a day off and one of our assistants bought a bunch of candles and I walked in and it felt so amazing I’m totally obsessed with candles now. I don’t even care if they’re on I just want to go buy candles and smell them. I just like something fresh and mellow and not too extreme, I don’t want it to smell like cologne just something nice and subtle. I’m so into candles, I can’t even believe I am.”

Finally, he also mentioned that aside from candles, his usual rider necessities consists of “Jack and vodka and a fruit plate” which are probably a lot easier for artist liaisons to pick up than candles.

Zedd’s been on tour for almost a month now, but check out the remaining schedule below and grab your tickets while you still can; you might get to witness some surprise guests in addition to his tour regulars of Dillon Francis, Madeon, and Alex Metric.
