Armin van Buuren is synonymous with uplifting tracks, A State of Trance, and Jesus poses, but a new study has found that the A-list producer and DJ ranks as the most dangerous celebrity online. Intel Security conducted its ninth annual study of the celebrities who produce dangerous online search results, and the Armin topped the likes of Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Betty White (wait, what?).
Armin is the first DJ and third male to ever top the list, with many of his online search results leading to viruses and malware. The study’s findings revealed that almost one out of every five search results for Armin resulted in a link to a website with viruses and malware. Intel Security online safety expert Stacey Conner said the following on the connection between Armin and the digital dangers found online:
“Celebrity names combined with the terms ‘free MP4,’ ‘HD downloads,’ or ‘torrent’ are some of the most searched terms on the Web. When consumers search for music that is not made available through legitimate channels, they put both their digital lives and devices at risk.”
Despite the bad news, Armin appears to be taking his new title stride. View his response to being the most dangerous celebrity on the Internet below:
