It’s only been about a week since the last original Diplo tune; however, we’ve already gotten a new installment with the help of rising trap artist Troyboi. If you follow his Facebook page, you’ll have seen a video preview of the track that was posted earlier this morning from his set at Orlando’s Life In Color event. Now, a leak has surfaced, and we can rest easy and turn up for the boys’ hard-hitting, exotic collaboration called “Afterhours” featuring Nina Sky on vocals. This track comes as another example of the scene’s most influential producers wanting to recruit Troyboi’s expertise, following the epic Flosstradamus collab “Soundclash.”
In typical Diplo fashion, the song begins with wide and powerful vocals resting in anticipation for the carnage to follow. A bass-heavy swell begins to pick up, while white noise stings the space. The drop explodes with a dynamic and personified twang, while a steady and full sub bass rattles underneath. Troyboi’s characteristic stabs of distorted vocal chops ring out in the spaces of the rhythm, until Nina returns for a second verse. The drop returns with newfound energy, sprinkled with shakers, hi hats, and Troyboi’s accordion.
