Music festival security teams aim to guarantee the safety of the attendees, artists, and tech crews, but sometimes misunderstandings result in terrible outcomes. An electronic band by the name of FYER, who is lead by Skrillex’s brother, Bobby Duque, was the latest victim of festival security miscommunication, and this incident caused the band to cancel their set scheduled for the Backwoods Music Festival in Stroud, Oklahoma.
FYER, the EDM/rock duo responsible for several awesome music videos, announced on their Facebook page that they were cancelling their set at Backwoods Music Festival on Sunday. Scheduled to perform on the Diskoportal stage on the final day of the camping festival, FYER attended the second day of the festival and was barraged by a security team member as they were leaving the venue. The confrontation escalated with the security member attacking FYER’s tour manager with a knife, requiring the TM to be rushed to the hospital and get stitches. FYER revealed that they caught the entire episode on video, but their management and legal council recommended to not post the video at this time.
