Jonathan Kane sent me the WIP for this almost two weeks ago on the dot, and it’s been nagging at the back of my mind ever since.
When The M Machine released their Just Like EP, it was definitely an exercise in experimentalism and innovation, fitting for a group that had just lost a member and was looking to find a new sound. The title track was childish and fresh, a breath of fresh air in a saturated market of overly serious, mediocre music.
Jonathan Kane took that essence and applied it to his own rendition in this somewhat terrifying, mostly incredible remix. The childish, innocent vocals come in amidst a deadmau5-esque minor chord sequence that provides a terrifying juxtaposition, conjuring images of horror films like Chuckie and Omen. The drop is a work of art, blending dark techno beats and a morose bassline into one brilliant package.
