Good news, M.I.A. fans! The eccentric rapper is working on a new album Matadatah, and with none other than the legendary Skrillex. Many of you will recall that she got her start a decade ago with the help of Diplo, who is Skrillex’s counterpart in Jack Ü. While Diplo and M.I.A.’s relationship ended on a sour note, M.I.A.’s career has still flourished, with her last album being Matangi in 2013.
Skrillex is just the producer she needs, as it seems we’re all currently living in the Golden Age of the OWSLA tastemaker. Seriously, Skrillex is so red-hot that people are falsely linking him to tracks because they sound a certain way. His production skills, paired with her politically-charged lyrics, could be a perfect storm similar to Arular, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
