Your EDM Premiere: D.O.D & Duckworthsound – Blow Up [Interview]

What was it like working with an established artist like D.O.D?

Duckworthsound: “At first, receiving the email saying [D.O.D] would like to work with me was a real shock, being that I’ve been listening to his work for the last year or two! Having someone of that caliber show interest in my music is somewhat overwhelming, but working with Dan has been a seriously great experience. He has shown me a lot, I have been learning as we have been going. It’s given me a lot of great opportunities that I am very thankful for.”

Most of your productions feature an aggressive moomba sound. Could you describe some of your influences and what inspired you to begin producing?

Duckworthsound: “The first producers I started listening to when I was younger was Afrojack & Laidback Luke. Their styles were so appealing to me! I used to watch lots of videos of Afrojack and I spent a lot of time on the LBL Producers forum. I decided to pick up FL and start producing… I spent every minute that I could just learning how to produce. Recently I’ve really been working on my own style and sound, and the Moomba sound came naturally from listening to all the old school Dirty Dutch stuff. Now I’m just trying to expand my style and incorporate that sound.”

Is there a prevailing theme that you hope to explore with your music?

Duckworthsound: “I don’t like to think there will be a theme with my music. I hope to explore many styles, but at the end of the day I will always produce music that I enjoy producing, no matter what style or genre that takes me into. I hope my fans will appreciate that, and enjoy what I create as well.”

Anything you’d like to say to your fans?

Duckworthsound: “All I can say is thank you! Thank you so much for believing in me, for standing by me. For the people that have known me since I first began, to the people that have enjoyed listening to my music and are getting involved now, their support and their enjoyment of my music is the best thing about this all. So thank you for all the love and support so far, and I hope you stand by me and enjoy the journey, because I feel like it will really begin now!”
