Dori Oskowitz, known for his EDM documentary on Vice called “Blackout,” is back in action, this time as the director of a new independent film about ecstasy. The film will tell the story of the origins of the rave movement in 1980s Dallas and the use of ecstasy, which was legal at the time. While this is certainly an interesting topic, the real interest lies in the production crew.
Slated to be an executive producer is none other than former NBA player Steve Nash. Nash was a member of the Dallas Mavericks from 1998-2004, and undoubtedly still has ties to the city. This was surely an interesting decision, but Nash seems to have his head in the right place:
After poring over the material I found an incredibly unique story with so many vibrant characters and a bold history known as the origin to the rave scene ecstasy culture. Its footprints are now all over the world.
Also lined up to produce this film is Dallas producer Wade Randolph Hampton, known in the area of DJ WishFM. Another producer had some words on the film, which can be read below. This is surely a diverse group of crew members; I’m interested to see how this turns out.
