CRAFT Festival Is The Perfect Example Of Why Festivals Are Closed For Weather (UPDATED)

Last weekend was CRAFT Festival, a small festival in the Netherlands of maybe 5,000 people. The festival was set to go off without a hitch, but weather would have its own way.

However, as the festival got started on July 25th, the festival and promoter Lose Your Mind issued a warning to attendees that the festival was closing due to bad weather. According to the promoter, over 80% of the festival grounds had been “destroyed” to the point where it was no longer safe for people to be at the venue.

This was brought to our attention with the video below where you can see high winds topple a massive stage scaffolding and bring it down hard. It’s quite obvious that anyone found under it would have been killed or at least massively injured. It’s also a brilliant example of why festivals close early when there’s a weather advisory warning.

Update: It has been brought to our attention by some of our readers that the video below might actually have been taken at a festival in Puerto Rico. We are currently awaiting confirmation but do apologize for the earlier misreporting. That being the case, CRAFT festival was still shut down early due to bad weather and this video still serves to demonstrate the importance of safety with regards to possible accidents occurring from severe weather.

VELD closed early this year, making a lot of people angry and distraught. Though nothing of the sort in the video happened at the Toronto festival, maybe fans would be a little more sympathetic to the premature closure.
